TUCHMAN MUNICIPAL COCOA OFFICE HAD STAKEHOLDERS MEETING ON CHILD LABOUR YESTERDAY.

Child labour in Ghana has been one major challenge affecting the development of this country most often in our farming communities due to that office of Techiman Cocoa board has yesterday called stakeholders meeting at Bonokyempem Hall in Techiman the Regional capital of BONO EAST.

The motive of the meeting was to discuss the causes, effect and how to prevent it

Addressing at the meeting, the Techiman District Cocoa Offer Mr Fredrick Aboagye explained that, most Youths are not ready to involve themselves in farming particularly in Cocoa farming all because of what they go through when they were a child.

He added that it is always good as a parent to send your child to farm but we need not allow framing prevent our child from not schooling because everyone needs to be educated because education is the key to success.

He explained that the production of Cocoa is reducing because of child labour

Mr Aboagye finally pleaded with parents not to allow their children to do work which is above their strength because it may affect them one day.

Moreover, the Municipal social welfare officer Mr Solomon Kwaku Amainm also said, this meeting has shown that the social welfare department needs to do more education about child labour due to that they will soon start education so that it will reduce in the municipality.
